Lykkers, our recent adventure in Cape Town was nothing short of spectacular, filled with breathtaking views, delightful cuisine, and unforgettable experiences.

Exploring Table Mountain

One of our first stops was Table Mountain, an iconic landmark that offers panoramic views of Cape Town and its surrounding landscapes. We took the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway to the top, which was an experience in itself. The cableway operates from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and tickets are priced at around R360 ($20) for adults and R200 ($11) for children. The sweeping vistas from the summit were mesmerizing, showcasing the city’s coastline, the lush expanse of the Cape Peninsula, and the distant peaks of the Twelve Apostles.

While we were up there, we hiked along some of the well-marked trails, which provided stunning photo opportunities. The mountain’s flat-topped summit, surrounded by a diverse range of plant life, made for an incredible day out in nature. Don’t forget to bring a light jacket; the weather can change quickly at the top!

Diving into V&A Waterfront

Next on our list was the V&A Waterfront, a bustling hub of activity with a range of shops, restaurants, and attractions. We spent hours exploring this lively area, but one of the standout experiences was visiting the Two Oceans Aquarium. Located at the southern end of the waterfront, the aquarium is open daily from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with tickets costing R230 ($13) for adults and R130 ($7) for children. The aquarium’s exhibits showcase the rich marine life of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, including sharks, rays, and colourful fish. It was a fantastic way to get up close and personal with some of the local marine wildlife.

A Cozy Stay at the Cape Royale Hotel

For accommodation, we stayed at the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel, which is conveniently located near the V&A Waterfront. The hotel offers elegant rooms and stunning views of the city and Table Mountain. Prices start at around R3,000 ($170) per night, and the hotel features amenities like a rooftop pool and a gourmet restaurant, making it a perfect base for exploring the area.

Savoring Local Flavors

Cape Town’s food scene is equally impressive. We enjoyed a delicious meal at the “Willoughby & Co,” a renowned seafood restaurant in the V&A Waterfront. Their sushi platter and fresh seafood dishes were top-notch, with prices ranging from R150 to R400 ($9 to $23) depending on your choice. For a more traditional experience, we also visited “Mama Africa,” where we sampled local specialities like bobotie (a spiced minced meat dish) and biltong (dried cured meat). Meals here typically cost between R120 and R250 ($7 to $14), and the vibrant atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience.
