Explorers
When Europeans first started crossing the Atlantic, they were looking for new routes to China and the East; however, they found much more than they had anticipated: the New World.
We can learn more about the most famous explorers in history and their revolutionary discoveries.
Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer and navigator, set sail in his teens, participating in several trade voyages in the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea. On one such voyage, he came to the island of Chios in present-day Greece, which was the closest he ever came to Asia.
In 1492, he sailed from Spain on the Santa Maria to cross the Atlantic with the Pinta and the Nina, hoping to find a new route to India. Between 1492 and 1504, he made a total of four voyages to the Caribbean and South America, and he is considered to be the initiator of the European colonization of America. On May 20, 1506, Columbus likely died of severe arthritis, still believing he had discovered a shorter route to Asia.
America was named after the Florentine navigator and explorer Amerigo Vespucci, who played an important role in the exploration of the New World.
On May 10, 1497, Vespucci set out on his first voyage from Cadiz with a Spanish fleet, and in May 1499, Vespucci set out on his next expedition as a navigator with the Spanish flag under the command of Alonzo de Ojeda. They crossed the equator and reached the coast of what is now Guyana, where it is believed that Vespucci left Ojeda to continue exploring the Brazilian coast. During this trip, Vespucci is said to have discovered the Amazon River and Cape St. Augustine.
On his third and most successful voyage, he discovered what is now Rio de Janeiro and La Plata. Believing he had discovered a new continent, he called South America the "New World," and in 1507, the United States was named after him, and he died of malaria in Seville, Spain, on February 22, 1512.
First of all, it is important to clarify the essential difference between an explorer and an adventure player. The definition of an explorer on the web is "a person who explores deep into dangerous or unknown places for the purpose of discovering new things. An explorer is usually the first person from a country or civilization to reach a place."
The adventure player, on the other hand, is largely superficial and does not require as specialized a framework, being more spontaneous. An explorer (outdoor expert) needs to have a great deal of relevant knowledge, and we believe that a good outdoor expert needs to have the following knowledge:
1. Sports medicine and general knowledge of first aid. Always be aware of our own physical condition, and in the event of an accident, be able to self-help. In team activities, we should protect ourselves as much as possible to avoid the physical danger that may occur and not become a burden on the team.
2. Basic weather knowledge. Outdoor weather is changing, we need to learn basic weather knowledge to help the trip arrangement and planning.
3. Basic knowledge of geology. We need to judge and prevent dangerous geological phenomena such as landslides, mudslides, and landslides. This will help a lot in arranging walking routes and choosing campsites. This also directly affects the safety of outdoor travel.
