Dental Care Methods
Teeth are essential digestive organs in the human body. They play a vital role in chewing food and are usually the first step in food digestion. Therefore, tooth protection is of great importance.
Neglecting dental care can cause tooth loss and various periodontal diseases. Although oral diseases are not very harmful to the body, they can affect people's daily eating and lead to malnutrition. There are several precautions for tooth protection in daily life, and let's take a look at them together.
1. Choose a soft toothbrush
When purchasing a toothbrush, opt for a small and moderate brush head with thin and soft bristles. Especially select the health care toothbrush with rounded bristle ends that will not damage your teeth and gums.
Hard toothbrush bristles can cause damage to the gums, and most people prefer using soft-bristled toothbrushes as they are not only comfortable but can also clean oral.
2. Maintain good eating habits
It is recommended to minimize the intake of too sweet and greasy food, coffee, strong tea, carbonated drinks, and other foods or drinks that are corrosive to teeth. Pay attention to avoiding excessive force when eating hard food, so as not to damage the teeth.
Foods that are too hot and too acidic may strongly stimulate the gums; hence it is recommended to eat as little as possible. Children should supplement their diet with calcium and fluoride-containing foods, which have a certain auxiliary effect on protecting teeth.
3. Brush your teeth on time
Brush your teeth once every day when you wake up early and before going to bed at night. Make sure to rinse your mouth after meals. It takes 3-5 minutes to brush every part of the teeth.
Brushing teeth before going to bed at night is particularly important because it removes food residue and dirt accumulated on the teeth during three meals a day. Bacteria grow in the mouth during sleep, and dirt and calcium salts in saliva deposit to form plaque and tartar, which can cause dental caries and periodontal disease over time.
4. Regular teeth cleaning
Although brushing your teeth can effectively keep your teeth healthy, calculus will always form on your teeth, which cannot be removed by brushing. Regular tooth cleaning is equivalent to asking a doctor to do a general cleaning of your mouth and remove harmful tartar that accumulates and is not normally cleaned.
Teeth scaling is not only for cleaning the teeth or beauty treatment but is also one of the essential measures to treat and prevent periodontal diseases. Therefore, it is recommended that people with dental calculus get their teeth cleaned regularly, which can effectively prevent periodontal disease.
5. Wisdom teeth should be removed
When wisdom teeth are pushed out, they can be very painful. Sometimes, the gums and neck become red and swollen, and it can even cause headaches in severe cases.
After the wisdom teeth grow out, they can cause wisdom tooth periodontitis, and food residues can be stuffed in the gap between the gums and the teeth, causing inflammation, redness, and swelling. Failure to remove wisdom teeth can greatly reduce the enjoyment of eating.
6. Orthodontic treatment should be done early
Usually, after the deciduous teeth are replaced with new permanent teeth at the age of twelve or thirteen, it is best to perform sequential orthodontic treatment.
Many people feel that wearing braces is unattractive, and they are reluctant to have it done. If they miss the early treatment period, it will take more time and energy.
Tooth protection plays a significant role in maintaining oral health. We must pay attention to dental care and follow the aforementioned precautions for teeth protection in daily life. Doing so will prevent the occurrence of tooth loss and periodontal diseases and ensure healthy teeth.
