Comacchio Valley
Situated in northern Italy is a haven known as Comacchio Valley, part of the region of Emilia-Romagna, which never seems to be discovered since it lies between other more famous towns.
This is an enchanting land, better known as the "Little Venice" of Italy, that holds a very particular combination of historical and cultural interest with natural beauty.
A Brief History
Comacchio Valley has its history from ancient Roman times when it was a fishing village. The network of canals and bridges, which still exists today, was built by the Romans to make fishing and transportation easier.
Comacchio was, in the Middle Ages, a strong maritime republic controlling a vast territory down the Adriatic coast. The affluence and influence of this town diminished over time, yet it still retained much of its historical charm.

Getting There
Comacchio is about 100 kilometers south-east of Bologna. It is easily reachable by car and train. There is also an airport in Bologna which receives international flights.
