Sleeping Bag
When camping in the wild, nothing is more important than a warm and comfortable sleep! A sleeping bag is an important piece of equipment to ensure a comfortable sleep! How to choose the right sleeping bag? Is warmth related to the material?
1. Type of filling
The sleeping bag filling is the soul of the sleeping bag, which determines the degree of warmth, weight, volume, maintenance, etc. It is basically divided into two types: down sleeping bags and chemical fiber sleeping bags:
Down sleeping bags: usually have high warmth retention, and small and lightweight storage, but are more expensive and troublesome to maintain, so they can only be wiped with a damp cloth. The selection of down sleeping bags focus on the down content (which will be indicated on the label) and the bulkiness (the volume occupied by a certain amount of down), and styles with high down content, sufficient bulkiness, meticulous workmanship, and lightness are the best choices.
Synthetic fiber sleeping bag: The artificial fiber-filled sleeping bag is cheap, easy to clean, and not afraid of water. It is very popular. However, it has a large storage volume and a heavyweight.
2. Temperature scale
The temperature scale is an important indicator for choosing a sleeping bag. Look at the tag of the sleeping bag and you will find that EN (European Norm) will have three values marked.
The KingCamp sleeping bag adopts the European standard. Let's take a look at its sleeping bag:
Comfort temperature (Comfort): the temperature at which a normal woman can sleep comfortably;
Limit temperature (Limit): the temperature at which a normal male can get comfortable sleep;
Extreme temperature (Extreme): A normal female sleep temperature before health or danger.
Therefore, remember to choose a sleeping bag with a suitable temperature according to the minimum temperature of the campsite.
3. Shape
In addition to satisfying the appearance association, the shape of the sleeping bag will also add points to the warmth! The types are roughly divided into the following categories:
Envelope Type: Can be unfolded completely, or two sleeping bags can be zipped together to make a large quilt. The freedom of movement is good, but the shoulder and bottom cannot be prevented from being filled with air, and the warmth is low.
Mummy type: The top is wide and the bottom is narrow, like a mummy shape. It is close to the shape of the human body and has good heat retention.
4. Trial
Buy a sleeping bag to try it out (if you can)! Get into your sleeping bag, lie down on a moisture pad of your choice, and test these two things:
Whether the sleeping bag can move more freely; if the friction coefficient between the two is so large that it is very difficult to move, it will affect your camping comfort;
Test the length of the sleeping bag to see if it is long enough to accommodate you; make sure your feet are not directly against the bottom of the sleeping bag when sleeping, as this pressure will reduce the bulkiness of the padding, affect warmth, and your feet are particularly cold.
