Running Breathology
Being able to master the right way to breathe may allow you to make unprecedented progress in your running ability. Here it is the economics of running and breathing. It sounds a lot like the tone of a con man, but it's the truth.
Knowing how to breathe is actually hard
Breathing may seem like a skill we are born with, but the gateway to it is always overlooked.
During running, our body's demand for oxygen intake is greater, and our breathing will be more rapid, but rapid breathing often leads to shallow breathing, which affects oxygen intake and makes the blood oxygen level drop, leading to breathing difficulties.
Therefore, we need to learn the "running breathing economics" system training, so that this innate skill, assists us in running to achieve greater progress.
So what are the training methods of "running breathing economics"?
1. Follow the pace to breathe
In the process of running, we find the pace and breathing pattern, so as to ensure the stability of the rhythm of the running process.
In practice, we will find that such a rhythm will lead to inhaling and exhaling with the same foot on the ground. In order to make our rhythm richer, we can try two steps and one inhales three steps and one exhales this asymmetrical breathing method.
2. Pilates-assisted lifting
Pilates training itself has high requirements for breathing rhythm, through auxiliary training, we can improve the control of breathing, save energy and improve efficiency, and have a better awareness of the amount and rhythm of breathing, thus improving running performance.
3. Abdominal breathing
Abdominal breathing is a way of breathing through the contraction of the diaphragm, directing air to the abdomen, allowing more air volume in the body, increasing abdominal space, reducing the rise and fall of the chest cavity, and directing oxygen to the deeper layers of the lungs. To practice abdominal breathing, go through the following steps.
·Stand with your body straight and your feet shoulder-width apart.
·Place your hands in front of your chest, gently inhale and exhale, and slowly tuck your stomach.
·Exhale completely and inhale slowly through the nasal cavity, slowly expanding the abdomen as you inhale.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, paying attention to whether the body is upright, whether the inhalation and exhalation are too rapid, and whether the abdominal nose and chest cavity are accurate.
Running shoes also need to breathe
The essence of "running breathing economics" is to let the body "breathe" through reasonable breathing to increase the efficiency of running training and improve performance.
Running shoes also need to be breathable. A pair of poorly ventilated running shoes will bring stifling heat during running due to sweaty feet, which will affect the comfort of the feet and reduce the running experience and interfere with the training effect. Therefore, a pair of running shoes should also master "running breathing economics", through the smooth breathing of running shoes, to help runners achieve a higher level.
